Counseling Services

We provide personalized, evidence-based mental health counseling for teens, parents, families, & individuals navigating challenges like school stress, anxiety, depression, self-worth & belonging trauma, relationship issues, grief, life transitions, & more.

Our goal is to walk alongside each client on their journey toward healing, growth, & long-term emotional well-being.

Mental Health Counseling

Haven Counseling Collective offers in-person and telehealth mental health services to teens and young adults.

We use evidence-based treatment models including Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other modalities of therapy to create a comprehensive treatment plan centered around each client’s individual needs.

We are trained in providing trauma-informed care & are committed to creating an anti-racist & gender inclusive program.

Addiction Counseling

We offer onsite, in person, and telehealth addiction, Early Intervention, & Outpatient treatment services to teens and young adults.

HCC addiction counselors utilize evidence-based treatment models including Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to build treatment plans focused on relapse prevention skills, psychoeducation, harm reduction, & goal setting to create a foundation for healthy decision making.

Medication Management

For clients who are prescribed psychiatric medication, our counselors play a key role in ensuring the best possible outcomes through integrated medication support. While we do not prescribe medications directly, we work closely with prescribing providers—such as psychiatrists, primary care physicians, or psychiatric nurse practitioners—to ensure clients receive coordinated, effective care.

Haven clients may have the option to work with our in-house psychiatrist, Dr. Hilde, who specializes in teen addiction & medication-assisted recovery.

Treatment Planning

We use structured, collaborative treatment planning as a foundation for meaningful and lasting progress. From the first session, our licensed counselors work with clients to create personalized, goal-oriented plans informed by thorough assessments, evidence-based interventions, & regular progress reviews.

We emphasize client empowerment, helping individuals take an active role in their care, & we coordinate with other providers when needed to ensure holistic support. This intentional, evolving process keeps therapy focused, effective, & tailored to each client’s unique path toward healing and growth.

Harm Reduction

We believe in using a compassionate, judgment-free approach to harm reduction — meeting clients where they are in their journey toward wellness. Our counselors work collaboratively with individuals who may be navigating substance use, self-harm, or other high-risk behaviors, focusing on reducing immediate harm while building trust and supporting long-term goals.

Rather than demanding abstinence as a starting point, we help clients identify safer strategies, explore underlying emotional triggers, & gradually move toward healthier choices at a pace that feels safe and sustainable. This client-centered model respects autonomy, promotes dignity, & prioritizes safety—empowering individuals to make meaningful changes without fear of stigma or shame.

Substance Use Support

Our counselors understand that substance use often intersects with trauma, stress, or underlying mental health conditions, & we approach each client with empathy & without judgment.

Whether a client’s goal is harm reduction, moderation, or full recovery, we work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that aligns with their values and readiness for change.

Using evidence-based therapies such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), & trauma-informed care, we help clients explore the root causes of their substance use, build healthier coping strategies, & strengthen resilience.

We also collaborate with medical providers, recovery programs, & support networks when appropriate to ensure holistic and coordinated care.

School Coordination

We work closely with schools to support students facing emotional, behavioral, or learning challenges. Our contract with Portland Public Schools allows us to be present in schools during class hours to help lower barriers to care.

We collaborate with teachers, school counselors, & administrators to share insights, recommend accommodations, & advocate for the student’s needs within the school environment.

Whether it’s participating in IEP or 504 Plan meetings, providing clinical input, or helping bridge communication between families & schools, our goal is to ensure students receive consistent, supportive care across settings.

This coordinated approach fosters stability, resilience, & academic success for students navigating mental health concerns.
